Dog Food – Does Your Dog Food – Contain Dogs and Cats?

You may have heard the horror stories that are floating about the Web, telling us that pet dogs and cats that have been euthanised (put to sleep) by Vets, end up in pet food?

The stories report that Vets dispose of the bodies of pets, by sending them to facilities – that end up sending them to rendering plants – that in turn render them into pet food?

As if that’s not horrible enough, often they also mention that the anaesthetic used to put them down (pentobarbital), accumulates in the food made from this source, and then ends up being fed to pet dogs and cats!

So the theory is dogs and cats are being fed to dogs and cats – and in doing so the pets also end up being exposed to levels of yet another chemical in their food!

I had heard story after story – but had not seen ANY proof of this and was reluctant to make such statements!

Well it turns out that though most commercial dog food is still the same low quality food source it’s always been – the US FDA has done testing and there is NO TRACE of dog or cat DNA!

There was however some pentobarbital found in some commercial dog and cat food!-

So – the dog and cat in food part is a MYTH – now that it’s been scientifically tested and proven to be so – we can ONLY hope that some of these claims might be retracted??

The presence of sodium pentobarbital is a bit of a concern though – see results here!

And here’s the Link to the whole FDA Article
