Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people across the planet – are addicted to dog-food, right now – I kid you not!

Well, in truth they are actually addicted to the CONVENIENCE of dog food – as distinct from the actual food itself – I mean can you imagine anyone actually EATING that stuff!!

I’m told that the pet food industry in the USA alone – is an industry worth more than $65 Billion annually!

Folks think on that for a few seconds – that is 65,000 piles of 1 Million dollars, I’d reckon you might have problems fitting that much onto the surface of a football field? More than a little TREASURE that these corporations might want to have at – wouldn’t you say?

Westerners are eating more and more fast foods, because of convenience – and similarly – we choose convenience over quality for our dogs!

It’s sad but true, and people like myself – marketers of information products on dog health, battle against that convenience on a daily basis!

Also true – many people may NEVER feed their dogs good food, because all they care about is convenience!

Though there are an increasing number of quality food manufacturers, the dominant supermarket brands still fare very well, because they are convenient and their slick mega-million dollar advertising has many people convinced!

Notice that I did not say that what they offer is – cheap and convenient? That’s because it’s NOT CHEAP, even though in most cases they use the CHEAPEST ingredients they can get their big corporate hands on!

But we are able to feed our dogs All Fresh, Home-made Natural Cooked Dog Food for about 45c per day – WAY cheaper than canned slop – and far tastier and better for them too!

So what to do – some of you guys are NEVER going to stop feeding your dog that stuff?

Since I really do care about dogs – hence the name Dogloverstoolbox, lets see if I can’t get your dog even just a temporary reprieve from a life sentence of what really amounts to trash in a can or tasteless kibble made from waste products?

What if – you just gave your pooch a couple of days a week where you “let him off”?

And since you like convenience – I’ll make it just about as easy as opening a can?

Try this – purchase a couple of the big home brand cans of salmon, tuna or mackerel from the supermarket. If you have access to a catering supply store, you’ll be able to get bigger cans, REALLY cheap and might even find sardines in tomato sauce in large cans. Most dogs LOVE canned fish and there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s an excellent source of protein, vitamins and loaded with minerals – AND there are no preservatives, its simply cooked in the can!

Now also pick up a couple of (500g/1 pound) packets of rice, one white and one brown! Follow the microwave directions on the packets and cook enough rice for 2 days (generally 1/2 cup each white and brown for medium sized dogs) this will only be 1 serve/day for large dogs and might last 3 or 4 days in the fridge for the little guys.

Allow the rice to cool – then open the can of tuna, salmon or mackerel, drain off the brine or oil and mix with the rice, toss in some cooked chopped spinach too if you have it? Feed that to your dog a couple of days a week – he or she will love you for it!

RELAX, you can still go back to the SLOP when you have to – but just see how your dog fares on this real food?

Or – do you have some eggs in the fridge?

Even if they’ve been in there a couple of weeks, they’ll be better than that canned soy bean boosted mush! Toss them into a bowl – shells too if you like, they’re an excellent source of calcium and other minerals – but DO crush them up a bit! Then microwave that for a few minutes, allow to cool and mix with the rice and veggies?

Now – you wouldn’t feed this every day, but you ALMOST could, perhaps with an added dash of kelp powder, some fish or linseed oil and WOOF, WOOF your already on your way to a happier, healthier dog!

So I understand – you want convenience – but NOW your dog can have a couple of days a week where it gets REAL FOOD too!

STILL – think All Fresh, Home-made & Natural, Cooked Dog Food is TOO much of a stretch? Not really organised enough to do even that?

It’s OK – I DO understand – life can be really BUSY – but if you’re in the USA, there’s STILL hope for your pooch (us Aussies miss out on this great product)!
